Attorney forms own law firm to fit busy schedule
by JESSICA L. FINCH Associate Editor

A busy attorney, wife and mother found a solution to her demanding schedule - open her own law firm.
"I have two children ... it was basically impossible for me to be a practicing attorney and mother at the same time," said attorney Fonda Dawn Kubiak.
An Amherst resident, Kubiak has 13 years of experience, including several years as a law clerk and associate attorney with a medium-size law firm in Buffalo .
She left to begin a solo practice and formed Kubiak Law Firm, PLLC, in 2007.
"I needed to give myself flexibility - that was the main driving force," she said. "So far, I have been able to successfully make that transition."
Joining her firm as an associate was Nathan Shoff .
The firm is located at 403 Main St., Suite 415 , in the City of Buffalo , which is key for the firm's case load.
Focusing on federal and state criminal defense, Kubiak said it was necessary to be located downtown, close to the courts.
"It's the most central location for general day-to-day business," she added.
She also practices in residential real estate - representing the purchasing and selling of real property. In addition, the firm handles general practice, estates and wills, family law cases and business law.
As the owner of a law firm, Kubiak said she wants to transform the way clients experience the legal systems by offering more compassion and making the process more humanistic.
She also plans to implement more creative ways of problem solving.
Kubiak is a graduate of the University at Buffalo 's Law School .
